Diane: My New Job

Together with SIT, please congratulate alumna Diane Takaya Brown (SMAT 22, 2003-04) on a new teaching position.  She is the first non-Japanese and the first woman to be offered a 5-year teaching contract at Sapporo University.  In her new position, she will train Sapporo Junior College students in the English Department to work as community volunteer EFL teachers  for elementary classrooms and children’s programs in community centers.  She attributes her success to her SIT education, including her final project, a study of The Cultural Experience, which now serves as the basis for her seminar classes.  Hers is another instance of SIT students shaping their education around their own goals.  Congratulations, Diane!
